Representatives of IYNC took part in the 65th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which took place on September 20-24 in Vienna (Austria).
This year the conference was held in a hybrid format due to the restrictions caused by COVID-19. Nevertheless, representatives from 173 States took part in the event.
“It is very important to have face-to-face meetings, exchange knowledge and experience, and discuss how to enhance the role of nuclear technologies in achieving the sustainable development goals. This year, we took part in a number of side events and round tables, including the IAEA side event Net Zero Challenge, University Networking in the Pandemic: New Challenges or Advantages, and Inclusive Human Resources Strategies for the Nuclear Sector: Balanced Diversity and others. We met with partner organizations such as the UN-NYG, IUVNEI, and Women in Nuclear Global and discussed how to increase collaboration between our organizations. It was exciting to meet people from all over the world,” told IYNC President Lena Andriolo.
During the IAEA conference attention was also paid to the upcoming IYNC2022.
“We talked about IYNC2022, about the preparation process for it. Today we see great interest from participants from all over the world and also, we feel the support from the IAEA and this is very important for us,” says Lena Andriolo.
