IYNC vice president Melissa Crawford, was invited by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to be part of a Young Generation Panel at the IAEA International Conference on Fast Reactors and Related Fuel Cycles: Safe Technologies and Sustainable Scenarios. The aim of the Panel was to discuss sustainable energy solutions for our future, and it took place on March 7, 2013.
Melissa’s role was to present the prognosis of Earth’s rising energy consumption to the audience, as “Dr. Sustainability”, identifying the current energy concerns and obstacles to a sustainable power industry. Melissa started the panel with the discussion on Sustainability, and each of the other panelists followed through with the aspects/obstacles of Nuclear Energy being part of the future energy mix.
Melissa stated: “It was an honor to represent IYNC as a part of the panel. It was an especially great experience at the young generation workshop prior to the panel, where we all worked as team to develop our message for the general conference.”
